It was June 30, 1958. 20 Years after the first appearance of Superman in Action Comics when Martin Schaffer awoke that fated morning to find he shared the memories of that iconic comic figure. He was only 16, and when he tried to explain it to his parents or his friends they all thought that either he had too active of an imagination, or that he had gone crazy.
But, Martin hadn't. Over the years, he met others that had the same experience, others that had been invaded by the minds of these fictional characters. He banded them together, hero and villain alike, forming a silent coalition amongst those that would call what they experienced a flight of the imagination, a bad trip, or worse, the ramblings of those that were mentally imbalanced.
It is now October of 2008. Many of the famed characters from the Marvel and DC universes have been slowly making their presence known through normal people. They have grouped together due to this shared phenomenon. Martin has been in charge for the past 40 years, finding others like him. The internet has made it easier to discover the others, and most have fallen into line underneath the guidance of Superman himself. There's only one problem now.
Martin Schaffer has died.
The community is in an uproar at losing their leader, losing Superman. He was 66 years old. Now the community must appoint a new leader, one that must step forward to hold this group together, one that must keep the peace, one that must help the new reincarnations find their place. Mister Fantastic, one of the eldest among them, and from the Marvel group, has taken the mantle, much to the chagrin of Wonder Woman.
There have always been two groups, those from DC and those from Marvel. The heads of the groups being the only ones that knew for sure which person had come back as which character. But amongst those groups held old rivalries between the heroes and the villains, and no matter the lives they led, former inked hatred ran deep. The peace needed to be maintained, as those that had been in their bodies for longer began to manifest the beginnings of the powers they had in their comics.
